Introduction to Altered Photo Artistry
by Beth Wheeler and Lori Marquette

Have fun while you learn the basics of
altering a photo and turning it into an Altered Photo quilt
Want to explore art quilts? Altered Photo quilt techniques together create
a low-stress system for those who don't yet feel confident about their
art-quilt design skills. We'll have fun while we learn the basics of
photo optimization, altering a photo, enlarging, and printing on fabric.
Begin with a favorite snapshot, then we'll use my book
Altered Photo Artistry as a textbook to turn that snapshot into an
artistic image. We'll print it on pre-treated inkjet fabric, and add
depth, color, and definition with free-motion quilting.
No special equipment is necessary, just a basic camera (film or
digital), computer, inkjet printer, and sewing machine. Photo-editing
software is included in the book—and the inkjet fabric is probably
available at your local sewing center.
Their beautiful web site is
www.threadography.net
Basic sewing (sewing a seam, dropping the feed dogs, how to wind a bobbin
and thread the machine) and computer skills (opening the application,
opening a document in the application, printing a document from the
application) are helpful.
Prerequisite: Purchase Altered Photo Artistry from Beth's website (first
choice) or from Amazon (second choice) and then e-mail a photo of your
smiling face holding the book to Beth at
