Creative Machine Quilting
With Sharon Baggs
This class will focus on using the walking foot first to
anchor a quilt, stitch-in-the-ditch and some simple straight
line/slightly curvy designs and then transition to the darning foot,
dropping feed dogs, securing threads, learning the basic shapes (arc,
s-curve, straight line, loop and hook).
Students make an optional sampler. The techniques can be
demonstrated and practiced by the students on simple quilt sandwiches
(i.e 14" squares) and I show stitch-in-the-ditch using a 4-patch.
I also discuss the basic tool choices...thread,
batting, etc. and run through my supply list so everyone understands
what is needed to get started. And to finish, I would reintroduce the
walking foot as the tool to apply binding because it makes a big
difference when you use it. Ed Note: Sharon does the best binding I have
ever seen.
