Basic Requirement List for Thread Painting

Tools

Sewing machine in good working order

(capable of lowering feed dogs)

Machine Embroidery Hoop

Sharp scissors for trimming threads. A sharp set of manicure scissors,

Topstitch or needles sizes 12-18

Darning foot for machine

Spare bobbin shuttle (optional)

Spare bobbins

Fine crochet hook

Small butane soldering iron or similar.(used to singe edges when using organza, when pressed I have even used a cigarette lighter!)

Notions

Thread in a range of shades and tones in colours to create foliage, (you may choose greens for summer or spring foliage or autumn tones) fins colours to create goldfish   Feathers  colors to create a bird of your choice Fur colors to create a small furry animal of your choice You do need a variety of shades and tones the more variety you have the better the shading looks in your  motif.

Mix your threads as well, I like to have cotton , poly, rayon blends, etc, any thread at all, I have found that I can achieve tonal changes by adjusting shine and thread type as well as weight.
